LONDON, July 22 (UPI) -- A British teenager who paid $190 for a PlayStation 2 on eBay found $88,000 cash stuffed in the box with the game.
The boy's parents immediately called police in Aylsham, Norfolk, who confiscated the cash until it could be determined if a crime was involved. If the rightful owner cannot be traced, the teenager could apply to keep the money, The Telegraph reported Sunday.
The teenager, whose name had not been released found the money March 20 and Norwich magistrates last month granted police the right to hold the cash for another three months, the British newspaper reported.
"Our economic crime unit is looking into the audit trail to establish where this money came from," a police spokesman said. "It is a live inquiry at the moment but nobody has been arrested."
EBay officials said they were cooperating with police but could comment no further on the investigation.
