HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., July 13 (UPI) -- Huntington Beach, Calif., officials said they are considering stricter nudity laws because of a naturist who is frequently seen naked around his home.

Under city laws, public nudity is only illegal if it is paired with apparent sexual gratification.

Huntington Beach Police Chief Kenneth Small said next week he will ask the city council to make it illegal to be naked in public, the Orange County (Calif.) Register reported.

The measure faces opposition from the Naturist Action Committee, which said it is unfair to limit citizen's constitutional rights simply because nudity offends some people.

The naturist, who is known in the city as "naked man," recently moved out of his downtown home because of reactions to his nudity from neighbors and police.
