MADRID, July 3 (UPI) -- Spanish psychologists will evaluate how relaxed and refreshed 30 stressed-out contest winners are on Tuesday after they demolish a Madrid hotel.

More than 200 applicants entered to go on a 2-hour rampage at the hotel, which is due to be renovated during the summer. A panel of psychologists selected the winners after interviewing them, a Times of London correspondent reported.

One floor of the hotel and the reception area was open to the group, which was provided with sledge hammers and pickaxes, and told anything members could demolish was fair game.

Psychologist Laura Garcia said it was expected the physical exertion and demolition would release endorphins and adrenaline and reduce the winners' stress levels.

Among the winners were corporate executives, young people on low salaries and couples preparing for their wedding.

Another was a working mother with young children who said in her application she desperately needed to "hit something," the report said.
