Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe ANCHORAGE, Alaska, July 3 (UPI) -- Wildlife authorities in Anchorage, Alaska, said they are trying to capture a grizzly bear spotted wandering around the city's downtown. The brown bear, thought by authorities to be a young 250-pound female, has been seen wandering crowded neighborhoods at night on an almost daily basis, the Anchorage Daily News reported Tuesday. Advertisement "She's not a troublemaker," state Fish and Game biologist Rick Sinnott told the Daily News. "But this is not an appropriate place for a brown bear." An estimated 60 brown bears and 250 black bears reside in the area surrounding the city and black bears are often spotted within urban areas but brown bears generally keep to the mountains and avoid areas dense with humans. Sinnott said the bear, which has been feeding on grass and salmon, hasn't shown any aggression toward humans but he wants to have the animal relocated to a more appropriate habitat, probably on the Kenai Peninsula, the newspaper reported.
