ALBERT, Texas, July 2 (UPI) -- The owner of the town of Albert, Texas, which claims a population of four but has only one actual resident, is putting the town up for sale.
Albert owner Bobby Cave is asking $2.5 million for the town, which includes a modern ice house stocked with beer, an aging dance hall and ancient live oaks, the San Antonio (Texas) Express-News reported Monday.
The town, about 50 miles north of San Antonio, was founded in 1877 and boasted a population of 50 during the 1920s, when the town included a school house that former President Lyndon B. Johnson is reputed to have attended for a short time.
"It is for a guy who has it all, but can't brag to his friends that he owns a town, so he needs to own a town," Cave said.
"My ideal buyer would be someone who falls in love with it and not just wants to make money out of it."
The Albert Ice House draws crowds of up to 300 on weekends but bartender Jody Ewen is the only permanent resident of the town, Cave said.
