STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 25 (UPI) -- Sweden's Supreme Administrative Court has ruled jailed sex offenders have the right to view pornography in their cells.
According to the Swedish news Web site, The Local, Monday's decision ended a high-profile case in which the Swedish Prison and Probation Service tried to prevent a convicted rapist from receiving sexually explicit material in his cell.
The inmate is serving an eight-year jail sentence.
Although prison officials argued pornography posed a security risk at the jail and predicted it would disrupt the treatment of sex offenders, the district administrative appeals court ruled last year restricting an inmate's right to information was potentially more dangerous than the fallout might be from allowing him to look at pornography.
The Prison and Probation Service sought to overturn that decision, but the Supreme Administrative Court upheld the original verdict.
Beer race raises funds, spirits
SUAMICO, Wis., June 25 (UPI) -- The 19th annual Beer Belly Two charity race in Suamico, Wis., drew an estimated 1,800 to 2,000 runners and walkers.
Organizer Bob Mayer said final participation numbers for Sunday's event -- which raised funds for Paul's Pantry, Families of Children with Cancer, Golden House and the Ecumenical Partnership for Housing -- will not be available until later in the week, but all signs point to a high turnout, the Green Bay (Wis.) Press-Gazette reported Monday.
"Just about 20 after 10, there were hundreds of people signed up to register yet," Mayer said. "There were, I think more (spectators), too."
The race offers participants their choice of water, beer or root beer at a series of stops along the race, the newspaper said. Mayer said no injuries or health problems were reported at the event, although the nature of the beverage choices often leads to slow finishers.
"You always get the people who stop at the beer stops," Mayer told the Press-Gazette, "and hardly make it to the finish line."
Man eats 21 hot dogs to win contest
ATLANTA, June 25 (UPI) -- The Southeast regional of the Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Atlanta was won by a man who downed 21 hot dogs in 12 minutes.
Dale Boone, standing at 6-foot-2 and sporting a coonskin cap, took home the top prize -- a trophy, a year's supply of Nathan's Famous hot dogs and a trip to New York to compete in the 92nd annual international hot dog eating, championship on July 4 at the birthplace of Nathan's Famous hot dogs, Coney Island, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Monday.
Boone, who boasts the ability to eat 2.5 quarts of baked beans in one sitting, bested 13 other speed eaters at Zoo Atlanta.
"I've been in training for two months," he told the newspaper. "I've got my body where I can eat 10 pounds. I was at the new Ryan's steakhouse on Buford Highway. I ate a lot of vegetables."
The victor dedicated his win to his grandmother, who attended all of his competitions over the past 8 years up until her death two months ago.
"I couldn't have done it without her inspiration," he said to the Journal-Constitution.

The breed of reticulated python is known for its potential aggressiveness and standoffish personality.
The RSPCA said a member of the public called officers to the scene to remove the reptile.
