RICCIONE, Italy, June 25 (UPI) -- An Italian businessman has opened a women-only beach on the Adriatic coast to give the country's females an oasis from men and children.
Beach 134 at the Riccione resort features "No Men" signs to keep prying male eyes and hands away from women looking for some quiet time to themselves, The Times of London reported Monday.
"This is not a lesbian beach," said Fausto Ravaglia, the businessman who elected to ban men from the beach. "It is simply for women to be themselves."
Milan housewife Cinzia Donati told The Times the beach, which also doesn't allow children, is "wonderful to relax, read or doze without hearing some child shouting 'Mamma, Mamma' 600 times -- and without men ogling you all the time. Men think they are indispensable but they are not."
The beach offers beauty tips from Marta Magnani, the winner of the Miss Muretto pageant, fitness classes, manicures, pedicures and cookery lessons.
The only men allowed at the beach, Ravaglia said, are the hairdressers and lifeguards, The Times said.
