LAS VEGAS, June 23 (UPI) -- The coming July 7 -- 7/7/07 -- is shaping up to be a busy day for the U.S. wedding industry.

The lucky combination happens to fall on a Saturday, making it convenient, as well.

Charlotte Richards, owner of the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, told the Los Angeles Times 400 couples had booked times for the day -- four times the average for Saturdays. She expects 700 couples will end up saying vows there during a 24-hour marathon.

So many couples have arranged weddings at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas the hotel plans to use two conference rooms and even an outdoor patio.

Some celebrities have succumbed to the superstition. Eva Longoria of "Desperate Housewives" and San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker are set to marry in Paris July 7, while Los Angeles restaurant owner and celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck plans to marry on Capri.

Event planners and suppliers of wedding goods can look forward to two boom days in 2008. One is June 6 or 06/07/08, and the other August 8 or 08/08/08, a date likely to be popular with Chinese who believe 8 is a lucky number.
