SEATTLE, June 22 (UPI) -- The Washington State Patrol's toxicology laboratory says a woman arrested for drunken driving tied the state record for highest blood-alcohol content.
An affidavit of probable cause says Rebecca Lingbloom was found to have a blood-alcohol content of .50 two hours after she was arrested May 10, the Tacoma (Wash.) News Tribune reported Friday.
Ann Marie Gordon, the manager of the toxicology laboratory in Seattle, said Lingbloom's alcohol content -- more than six times the legal limit of .08 -- ties the record set by a King County driver in 2000.
Gordon said readings of .50 are so rare, technicians are required by state rules to retest a blood sample that shows that result.
"It certainly would kill many people," she said.
Gordon said the average blood-alcohol content of people arrested for drunken driving in the state is about .15.
Lingbloom pleaded not guilty Wednesday to one count of driving under the influence of alcohol.
