Ringtones now offer personalized romance

TOKYO, June 21 (UPI) -- Japanese singer Hiromi Go took time to record his famous love song, "Oyome Sanba," 100 times recently in order to offer personalized romantic ringtones.

The 51-year-old singer repeatedly sang his famous romantic hit for the new mobile phone service, the Mainichi Shimbun said Thursday, inserting a different woman's name into the song each time.

If female clients' names match up to one of the versions offered as part of the ringtone service, they can hear Go sing their name in the phrase, "A woman who is in love is beautiful."

Among the names used in the unusual service were Go's ex-wife Yurie and the singer's former girlfriend, singer Seiko Matsuda.

The Mainichi Shimbun said Go's decision to sing a personalized version of the song at a wedding last month prompted the creation of the mobile phone service.
