Leicester Deputy Chief Fire Officer Ian Scarrott told The Sun the stripper is believed to be a young woman one of the firefighters met and invited to the station. The woman, identified only as an 18-year-old named Amanda, stripped down to her underwear.
A third firefighter involved in the incident was subjected to less severe discipline.
"These officers were at work and they are in a service which is held in high esteem by the public," Scarrott said. "We can't have a situation where we have young people coming into the station to do their Duke of Edinburgh Award and we have to say 'by the way, there's a woman stripping.'"
Graham Vaux, chairman of the firefighters' union, said the two men who were fired feel they were treated harshly for "five minutes stupidity."
