Frank L. White died on Feb. 15, 1938, and is listed in the Woodlawn Cemetery ledger as "The Cream of Wheat Man" in plot No. 310, the Lansing, Mich., State Journal reported Friday. Advertisement A rose granite stone with an etching of what is believed to be his likeness was placed on the plot Wednesday. "I heard the Frank White story when I was a little girl," Sharon Lantz, 70, said to the newspaper. "I was proud he was from Leslie." Within her pride she decided to raise more than $600 to buy the headstone and have it carved with White's name and the date of his death. Most of the money came from people making donations of $1. "Some people would drop in the bank and give $1," she told the State Journal. Or "they'd see me on the street and give a $1."
