BEATRICE, Neb., June 14 (UPI) -- Playing a round of golf can often seem like it takes an eternity, but a threesome in rural eastern Nebraska pushed the envelope by playing from dawn to dusk.

The group squeezed in 110 holes at the Beatrice Country Club this week in a grand summer-vacation experiment to see just how much golf can be played between sunup and sundown.

"We can't remember if it was while we were selling fireworks or when we were out here playing golf, but we just decided we should get up some morning and see how many holes we could play," Beatrice High School Golf Coach Dick Stuart told The Beatrice Daily Sun.

Stuart teed off in a heavy fog at 5:45 a.m. Monday with club pro Joel Brueggemann and fellow teacher Ben Essam. By the time they quit more than 15 hours later it was after 9 p.m.

And yes, they kept score. Brueggemann recorded a 1-under-par 431 for the epic round. Stuart finished at 446 and Essa broke 500 with a 494.
