TORONTO, June 13 (UPI) -- Two Toronto men have been arrested for having a truckload of possibly contaminated Hershey's chocolate products that were recalled and about to be destroyed.
Staff Sgt. Lorenzo Bressan said the pair were seen unloading eight shrink-wrapped skids of the chocolate from a rented truck near a recycling depot that had been contracted to dispose of the candy, the Toronto Star reported Wednesday.
Last October and November, Hershey's Canada issued the recall on the products, citing fears they may have been contaminated with salmonella.
The lot numbers on the candy the men were unloading were among those recalled, Bressan said.
One of the two men arrested works for the recycling depot.
Both men face charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and theft over $5,000.
