LODI, Calif., June 4 (UPI) -- A senior citizen in Newport Beach, Calif., showed her love of daredevil thrills last month by skydiving from 13,000 feet to celebrate her 82nd birthday.

While her two daughters joined her for the May 25 jump, Marian Bergeson, who was the first female Republican state legislator in California, received less enthusiasm from her husband, the Orange County (Calif.) Register said.

"He thinks I'm crazy," Bergeson said of her spouse. "He's probably going to be jumping, but not from a plane."

Bergeson had previously made a parachute jump in 1991 and the newspaper said she has plans to skydive again when she turns 90.
