DETROIT, June 2 (UPI) -- A Michigan teenager was fired from his job for whistling at a co-worker when he spotted her in her prom dress, it was reported Saturday.

Tom Pacholke, 18, of Clinton Township let loose with a so-called wolf whistle when he saw his dressed-to-kill co-worker entering the Nino Salvaggio market where they both worked. Twenty minutes later, he was called into his manager's office and fired.

"He said, 'I've got to let you go. You've got to understand where I'm coming from,'" said Pacholke, who had worked at the store for about 18 months. "I said, 'I don't. You're firing me for whistling at a friend. I've known her since the seventh grade.'"

Pacholke's parents protested the April 27 firing, but the store wouldn't relent, even though the co-worker didn't complain and said she wasn't offended, reported The Detroit News.

The store had no comment when contacted by the newspaper.
