AURORA, Colo., May 30 (UPI) -- An Aurora, Colo., man who lost one leg and part of the other in a tractor trailer accident survived a bullet wound inflicted by a would-be burglar.

Roger Baxter, a former Department of Transportation worker, and his wife confronted a home intruder when they returned home from running morning errands Tuesday, the Rocky Mountain News reported Wednesday.

Baxter was shot in the side by the attempted burglar, but the round was partially deflected by his cell phone and he was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Detective Bob Friel said the intruder and a second suspect who was acting as a lookout fled the scene after the shot was fired.

Police arrested two teenage suspects about eight blocks from the home. The suspects, who were not named, were being held Wednesday at the Foote Detention Center in Englewood, Colo.
