LUND, Sweden, May 30 (UPI) -- A man driving on a road outside the Swedish city of Lund walked away nearly unscathed Wednesday after a runaway tank crushed his car.

After his car was turned into a pancake by an out-of-control tank, the unidentified man was taken to Lund University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, The Local reported.

"The man appears to be OK. We are now going to carry out X-rays to see if there are injuries we can't see," hospital spokesman Per Langby said.

Apparently a group of six Swedish Army troops had been operating the tank as part of a military exercise, but lost control after clipping a tree.

That impact broke one of the tracks off the massive military vehicle and sent it off course, the newspaper said.

From there, its passengers were unable to stop the vehicle from heading straight for the car and its reasonably surprised driver.
