PITTSBURGH, May 25 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania woman working as an extra on a television police series was arrested when she showed up in uniform for her son's court hearing.

Kimberly Chapman of Wilkinsburg, Pa., was charged with impersonating a police officer and theft of the uniform, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. She was arrested in the courtroom where her son was appearing on a gun charge.

She allegedly told employees in Allegheny County Family Court that she was an officer assigned to the case. But her lawyer said she never identified herself as a police officer and that she came to court in uniform only because she remembered the hearing after she was in costume.

Chapman was working as an extra on "The Kill Point," a Spike TV series. The extras wear given uniforms that closely resemble those of Pittsburgh police, except that their patches say "Police Department" without identifying the city.

The extras and actors are discouraged from leaving the area in uniform.
