CINCINNATI, May 21 (UPI) -- A 21-year-old Avondale, Ohio, man arrested on a weapons charge asked for a low bond so he could get out of jail and be married Friday.
Lawrence Wakefield was arrested Saturday when police say they caught him with a gun, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
The gun turned out to be a toy gun in a paper bag but Wakefield was still charged with attempted carrying a concealed weapon, attempted being a felon with a weapon and possession of criminal tools.
He also has a prior conviction on drug-related charges, the newspaper said.
Hamilton County (Ohio) Municipal Court Judge Ted Berry responded to the request by setting the bond at $23,500 and sending Wakefield back to the jail, the Enquirer reported.
