LONDON, May 3 (UPI) -- A London man has been sentenced to 20 months in jail for reportedly kidnapping his wife to stop her from having surgery to enlarge her breasts.
James McCarthy, 27, told his wife Kerry, "Don't do it," while dragging her out of hospital where she was waiting to have her operation, The Sun reported Thursday.
He said he had a knife and would kill her if she did not come with him. The woman managed to escape from McCarthy and ran into an office before collapsing.
"He went to talk her out of having the operation. When she refused he reacted in that way," said McCarthy's lawyer, Michael Gomulka.
Hospital worker Lola Ali told police: "He said to her, 'I like you as you are. I will kill you now.'"
Since then, Kerry, 27, has left her husband and also decided to forgo the breast enhancement operation.
