LYNWOOD, Ill., April 13 (UPI) -- The principal of an elementary school near Lynwood, Ill., has resigned after secretly recorded videos of sexual encounters with a teacher were revealed.

Parents of children at Sandridge Elementary school, located in an unincorporated area near Lynwood, received anonymous DVDs in the mail that contained video of principal Leroy Coleman engaged in sexual acts with science teacher Janet Lofton, the Chicago Daily Southtown reported Friday.

One of the encounters may have occurred during school hours, the newspaper said.

School board attorney John Izzo said Coleman and Lofton both resigned from their positions, citing personal reasons.

Police searched the principal's office Thursday and are reviewing the tape to determine if any illegal acts were committed, first deputy chief John Palcu said.

Parents expressed shock and outrage at Coleman and Lofton.

"I was stunned and I felt sick to my stomach," said parent Kim Grivakis, who received a DVD in her mailbox.

"I want to see this sheet of paper that says (Coleman) was fired... to let them know (he'll) never teach another child," Grivakis said.
