Sexy vegetarians compete for PETA title

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 12 (UPI) -- The animal rights group PETA has opened up its "Sexiest Vegetarian Alive" competition to non-celebrities like Stephanie Bain of Cambridge, Mass.

Entrants still need to be attractive animal-lovers.

"They judge mostly based on looks, but they take other things into account such as how compassionate they are," Matt Prescott, a spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, told the Cambridge (Mass.) Chronicle. "It is after all the Sexiest Vegetarian Contest."

Bain, 21, was one of 10 finalists picked from 700 entries, the newspaper reported.

"I went vegan at 15 years old," Bain, a law student, told the Chronicle.
