HELSINKI, Finland, April 11 (UPI) -- A cardboard box for a frozen pizza is among several new collectibles gathered by Finnish museums in an attempt to accurately represent the 21st century.

The Finnish National Museum and the Helsinki City Museum have begun gathering modern artifacts that museum officials feel best represent current times, Helsinki Sonomat said Wednesday.

National Museum researcher Antti Metsankyla said that by collecting items like the pizza box or an edition of the music magazine Sue, the two historical locales are aiming at encapsulating present day culture.

"We have a great responsibility over what we choose to store. Later eras will be the ones to make their own interpretations on our selections," Metsankyla said.

"Our starting point is naturally that the National Museum puts on show what is common and belonging to the everyday," he added.

The newspaper said that among those everyday items added to the growing exhibits to date are a baseball cap, energy-conserving light bulbs and a copy of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."
