Cross-country drive on 2 gallons of gas

LEICESTER, England, March 31 (UPI) -- A British uncle faces charges he stole money donated to his three terminally ill nephews and used it buy himself a new television.
Anthony Smith is accused of helping himself to 8,000 pounds ($15,746) from his parents' home in Leicester and spending it on a plasma-screen TV with surround sound.
The Times of London said the money came from donations made to the three youngsters, ages 9, 7 and 5, who are stricken with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a disease that generally kills its victims before the reach adulthood.
Smith's lawyer told the court his 27-year-old defendant had reconciled with his family and planned to pay the money back.
