HARTFORD, Conn., March 25 (UPI) -- A Connecticut company has taken employee relations up a notch by giving its workers not only a room to take naps in, but also a specialized napping chair.
Yarde Metals in the town of Southington began offering its employees a quiet room to nap during work hours seven years ago and now has upped the ante by providing workers with a high-tech vibrating chair, the New York Times said.
Company founder Craig Yarde said that the napping room and accompanying chair is designed to give workers a place to relax during the hectic work day.
"Before, we had people putting their hands over their faces at their desks or going into their cars to take a snooze," he said. "We built this to give them a respectable place. Anyone can go at any time. There's no pay deduction."
The recent addition of the Z-Lounge chair has already drawn kudos from the company's staff who use the workplace oasis.
"It's wild, that chair," employee Ben Kozikowski told the Times. "It seems like you're just floating. You forget where you are... oh, I'm at work."
