SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill., March 10 (UPI) -- A suburban Chicago health teacher is hot water over a sex education lesson that allegedly went a little over the top.

Parents in Thornton Township say they plan to call for the suspension or firing of teacher Scott Groff over a class in which his eighth-graders reportedly had to read aloud questions about topics such as masturbation and oral sex.

"My daughter brought it to our attention because she was disgusted with it," Grady Braley told the Chicago Tribune Saturday. "There are certain things at her age they need to know. But this was a how-to manual."

Groff, 27, reportedly defended the controversial session by telling students the graphic subject matter was part of the school's "human sexuality" curriculum.

The school principal has offered an apology to parents and students but some parents said that wasn't enough.
