CANTON, Mich., March 8 (UPI) -- Police in Canton, Mich., said an autopsy was planned for the body of a woman whose roommate kept her concealed for three weeks after her death.

Detective Sgt. Rick Pomorski did not say whether charges would be filed against the woman's roommate, who was released after six hours of questioning Wednesday, the Detroit News reported Thursday. Neither woman was identified by police.

Pomorski said officers found the body while acting on an anonymous tip.

"The woman opened the door and there is that odor, and you know right away what it is," he told the News.

He said investigators hope the autopsy sheds some light on the cause of death.

"It could be natural, suicidal or intentional," Pomorski said. "We aren't ready to say."

Pomorski said police are not prepared to release the roommate's version of events.

"She knew her roommate was there lying on the living room floor," Pomorski said. "She did give us a story as to her reasonings. We are hesitant to detail that now. We will be piecing everything together and expect to have better answers when we hear from the medical examiner."
