BOSTON, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- A medical malpractice case brought by Notre Dame head football coach Charlie Weis ended in mistrial after the doctors rushed to assist an ailing juror.
The Boston Globe said a surgeon was testifying for the defense when a man in the second row of the jury box started gasping and then slumped in his seat.
Four doctors -- including the two whom Weis has accused of botching his gastric bypass surgery -- assisted the man while an attorney called 911.
The juror was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was in stable condition, the newspaper said.
Weis' lawyer, Michael E. Mone, filed a motion for a mistrial, saying the jury's impartiality had been compromised by the doctors' actions. The judge agreed.
Mone said he plans to seek another trial.
