WEATHERFORD, Texas, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Weatherford Electric of Texas said a printing error caused many customers to receive erroneous notices, with one customer reporting a $24 billion power bill.

Pam Pearson, customer service manager of the Weatherford, Texas, utility, said 1,385 customers were mailed flawed notices this week because of an error by printing company Pearson said Data Pros, the Weatherford Democrat reported Thursday.

"When we sent the file to the company that actually prints our late notices, they inadvertently printed them as final bills, and that's what came out," Pearson said. "Most people laugh a lot."

Richard Redden said he had a good laugh when he received his bill for $24,200,700,007.

"I know they raised the rates on kilowatt hours a little bit," he joked. "I guess we shouldn't have run the heater quite so much this month."

Pearson said new bills will be issued Feb. 28.

"All of our records are correct and show the right balances. It was just an error with the printer," she said.
