Bottle gets the wrong kind of attention

EDINGBURGH, Scotland, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- A man in Edinburgh, Scotland, says the beer bottle that bonked a policeman on the head was tossed by him in an effort to get someone's attention.

Paul King, 27, told the Edinburgh Sheriff Court he was being assaulted in a third-floor apartment, so he flung the bottle out the window to try and summon help, the Daily Record said Tuesday.

For his effort, King was fined Monday about $782 and admonished by Sheriff Kenneth Maciver for his "act of stupidity," the newspaper said.
