Edward Cardinal Egan and Brooklyn Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio told the New York Post they consider the plan an immoral "anything goes" policy that degrades society. Advertisement Egan and DiMarzio said they were particularly disturbed by reports that many of the condoms went to teens, a practice they saw as "tragic and misguided." "We believe we're saving lives," mayoral spokesman Stu Loeser said of the $1.5 million program.
