Serb woman gives birth in car second time

UZICE, Serbia, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- A woman gave birth to a baby in a car while her husband was driving her to a hospital in southern Serbia, the same way she delivered a baby three years ago.

Dr. Dragoslav Arsic of the maternity ward at the southern town of Uzice, 125 miles southwest of Belgrade, said Mira Markovic, 25, and the baby were doing well, the Belgrade daily Danas reported Wednesday.

The woman and her husband, Milan Markovic, 36, were riding Tuesday from the Ponikve village near Uzice, when he had to stop the car to help his wife deliver the baby.

Milan said he already assisted his wife in delivering a baby girl three years ago while driving her to the hospital.

Their oldest daughter was born six years ago also outside a maternity delivery ward, in the reception area of the Uzice hospital, Milan said.
