The roses, which can reach up to 72 inches in height, are sold by Organic Bouquet for $249.95 a dozen, plus $59.95 for priority shipping, The Washington Post reported Monday. Advertisement The flowers, which tower over typical 28-inch roses, feature buds three inches tall and nearly three inches wide. "People who are giving flowers want to make an impression, and this is the ultimate impression you can make," said Gerald Prolman, who runs Organic Bouquet. The company is allowed to sell the gargantuan flowers through an exclusive agreement with grower Roberto Nevado. Prolman said he is selling the flowers on a quota system by the day to avoid selling out too quickly. Nevado said the giant flowers are created through a combination of pruning techniques and an extra month given for them to grow to incredible sizes. He said each plant yields only six or seven long stems, and they take almost 100 days to grow.
