BUCHAREST, Romania, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Romanian doctor Naum Ciomu claims he chopped off his patient's penis and hacked it into pieces because he was under a lot of stress.

The 58-year-old doctor was supposed to be correcting a testicular malformation on builder Nelu Radonescu when he lost his temper and proceeded to use a scalpel to slice off the penis in front of his staff, Romania's Sunday Telegraph reported.

Ciomu also cut the penis into three pieces before charging out of the operating room at the Panduri Urology Hospital in Bucharest, the report said.

The doctor has to pay about $200,000 in damages and about $40,000 in costs to Radonescu, 36.

"The trauma has left a deep mark both physically and psychologically," Radonescu said. "It is hard for a man who wants to have sex, yet lacks the organ. My wife is the best thing I have."

Radonescu said he would use the money for reconstructive surgery on his penis.

"It will never be the same, but if I am even a quarter of the man I was, I will still be very content," he said.
