SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Public feeding of lions and tigers at the San Francisco Zoo was stopped after a keeper was mauled before Christmas.

A zoo spokesman said the Lion House is closed until further notice after a Siberian tiger chewed up the arm of zoo keeper Lori Komejan on Dec. 22, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

The newspaper said generations of area residents have watched the big cats devour chunks of horse meat in their cages inside the Lion House. The daily feeding is one of the zoo's most popular attractions, the newspaper said.
