CHICAGO, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- The already-steep prices at some of Chicago's top restaurants are continuing to go up, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Monday.
Alinea, named by Gourmet magazine as the best restaurant in the nation, has just raised the price of its 23-course dinner from $175 to $195. During the month of January, it is typical for top-tier restaurants to adjust their menus and prices. Some restaurants close for a week or two to perfect their new culinary strategies.
While $195 may seem high, it's only slightly higher than the tariff at some of the other high-end Windy City eateries. Diners at Charlie Trotter's restaurant will pay $200 for about 15 courses. A 10-course dinner at Tru runs $250.
At Avenue, in the Peninsula Hotel, diners are treated to a $160, 12-course meal that features over 50 different ingredients, up from $145 last year, the Sun-Times reported.
