TARPON SPRINGS, Fla., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- A 14-foot Burmese python named Chloe improvised during a performance at Florida's Tarpon Springs Aquarium and attacked its handler.

The Tampa Tribune reported that Chloe and its 18-year-old handler, Alison Cobianchi, had been performing for an audience Saturday when the python wrapped itself around its handler and her hand.

As Cobianchi struggled with the python, police arrived on the scene and one officer used his Taser on the snake to loosen its grip on the handler.

Then with prompt assistance from audience members, a manager and one of her fellow snake handlers, Cobianchi was separated from the python within three seconds and taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The newspaper said no information was available regarding Cobianchi's condition and that an investigation would likely be conducted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
