Porn star in creche ruffles the religious

BOLOGNA, Italy, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- A nativity scene in an Italian city that includes a porn star fleeing death and the new prime minister on a bicycle has outraged Catholic parties.

Bologna's creche is the work of artist Wolfango Peretti Poggi.

Leftist Mayor Sergio Cofferati dismisses the complaints of Daisy, a centrist Catholic party that is in Italy's governing coalition, and the right-wing UDC.

"Have any of them actually seen it?" he asked.

The porn star in the exhibit is Moana Pozzi, who died in 1994 of liver cancer. Poggi depicted her naked and terrified with a scythe-wielding Grim Reaper on horseback at her heels. Prime Minister Romano Prodi is in nativity scene as well.

"This is a very curious and controversial mix which definitely clashes with a scene that should be intensely religious," senators representing Daisy said in a letter to the mayor.
