HUNTINGTON, N.Y., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- An accused Long Island, N.Y., scam artist found that what goes around comes around when she allegedly used stolen money as a deposit on a fake $4,000 loan.
The New York Post reported Saturday that Stacey Renz, 32, a mental health counselor, was arrested after allegedly stealing about $772 from a 63-year-old patient in her care, according to police. She then used the allegedly stolen cash as a security deposit on a loan, only to later find that the Canada-based loan company had scammed her and didn't really even exist, the Post said.
Renz, the Post said, also allegedly registered a 1998 Ford Taurus in her victim's name. Her own license was suspended.
The Huntington, N.Y., resident was charged with identity theft and criminal impersonation and will be arraigned on Feb. 7.
