CHENGDU, China, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The director of China's Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base said polls have been opened to name a baby panda at Zoo Atlanta.

Zhang Zhihe said polls to choose a name from a shortlist of 10 have been opened for Chinese Web surfers at pandaabc.com and at zooatlanta.org for U.S. panda fans, Xinhua, China's official government-run news agency, reported Tuesday. Zhang said the polls close Sunday.

The short list was chosen from more than 2,000 suggestions from panda enthusiasts in Chengdu and Atlanta.

The female cub, born Sept. 6 to mother Lun Lun and father Yang Yang, is the fifth giant panda born in the United States in six years but the first at Zoo Atlanta.
