CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- A peewee football coach in Texas has been charged with assaulting a teenage referee.

Prosecutors in Corpus Christi, Texas, say that Robert Watson punched Marc Benavides twice in the face after the 18-year-old referee threw him out of a game, the Corpus Christi Caller-Times reported. Watson allegedly objected vociferously because Benavides did not penalize a player from the opposing team.

Police reports say that Watson also got physical with parents who rushed onto the field to pull him off the referee.

The incident Nov. 4 attracted international attention after videotape was posted on the Internet.
