CHICAGO, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- An Oregon man has created the world's largest rubber band ball, a 4,594-pound behemoth that was unveiled Tuesday in Chicago.

Guinness World Records said Steve Milton's creation, made with 175,000 rubber bands and standing 5 1/2 feet tall with a circumference of 19 feet, eclipsed the old record of 3,120 pounds.

Milton of Eugene, Ore., and his son, Bryce, 6, worked on their creation in the family garage.

The ball will make its next public appearance in Thursday's Thanksgiving Day parade and then will begin touring some newly remodeled OfficeMax stores.
