PEEKSKILL, N.Y., Nov. 2 (UPI) -- A former Peekskill, N.Y., jail inmate who took his son trick-or-treating on Halloween night is in hot water for wearing his old orange jail jumpsuit.

Oscar Aponte was spotted by off-duty corrections officer April McDuffy, who asked him where he got the jumpsuit, the New York Daily News reported Thursday.

Aponte reportedly ran to his car with his son and drove away, but McDuffy called his license number in to police, and also called the Westchester County jail about a possible prison break, the White Plains (N.Y.) Journal reported.

The prison went into lockdown and all prisoners were accounted for. Soon after, Peekskill police spotted Aponte, 32, still trick-or-treating another neighborhood.

Police said Aponte had been released from jail in September after serving a four-month sentence for violating his probation on a drunken-driving conviction. He is now facing one charge each of petty larceny and criminal possession of stolen property -- the jumpsuit.
