LOS ANGELES, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Former underground musician Phil Pearlman Gadahn is gaining more fans thanks to the recent U.S. indictment of his son for treason and alleged al-Qaida links.
Ever since Adam Yahiye Gadahn was indicted last week on treason and terrorism charges, the 1960s era musician's works have been revisited through online sales of his bootleg works, the New York Daily News reported.
The fact that the former musician and his wife raised their children on a farm with goats and without any electricity has led some to question a potential link to the younger Gadahn's arrest.
"It's tempting to find some sort of relationship between Phil's unusual lifestyle and what happened to his son," said writer Patrick Lundborg. "But I tend to look at it more as a sad coincidence."
Adam Yahiye Gadahn, who has appeared in a number of al-Qaida videos, could face the death penalty if he is convicted of treason.
The elder Gadahn, now in his 50s, lives in Riverside County, Calif., and refuses to talk to the media.
