NEW YORK, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Rock singer Gene Poole claims he loves his dog, Chico, for its honesty -- and planned to sing about it at this weekend's Dog Show and Parade in New York.
The former Warrior Soul guitarist was scheduled to sing at the 20th annual Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition Dog Show and Parade Sunday, to honor his relationship with his yellow Labrador, the New York Post reported.
"He sits and stares up at me, and if he doesn't like something, he gets up and walks away," Poole said. "He's a tough critic!"
Also set to honor their canine companions in the next couple months are rockers Debbie Harry and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The former Blondie singer is headlining an Oct. 4 American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals concert, while the Chili Peppers offer the track, "Death of a Martian," on their upcoming album as a tribute to bassist Flea's late dog, said the paper.
