Close shave over vibrating airline bag

CHICAGO, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Mysterious buzzing from a checked airline bag at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport shaved an irate passenger off his flight, made three hours late.

Baggage handlers raised a security alarm Tuesday morning as they were about to load the bag onto an American Eagle flight to Cleveland.

The area was cleared, and the unidentified owner was located and advised his baggage would have to be searched on the tarmac.

American spokeswoman Mary Frances Fagan told the Chicago Sun-Times the man became very upset and "potentially unruly."

Meanwhile, the buzzing was traced to a battery-operated shaver whose switch had been shifted to "on' by movement.

Regardless, the man and his traveling companion were escorted from the aircraft "to diffuse a potential situation," and were scheduled to take the next flight to Cleveland, Fagan said.
