McDonalds faulted on breastfeeding policy

Sept. 1, 2006 at 12:31 PM   |   Comments

LONDON, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- McDonald's is known for a child-friendly image, but in Britain it's reportedly rated the least friendly for breastfeeding mothers.

Women say they have been asked by staff at the fast-food chain to stop breastfeeding in the restaurant or go to a rest room cubicle to nurse their babies, a survey by the National Childbirth Trust found.

In contrast, the NCT rated Ikea, the Scandinavian furniture store, the friendliest place for mothers to breastfeed their children, the Independent reported.
