SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- An Illinois hospital is offering a sarong-like hospital gown for women who find the normal gown a bit too revealing and breezy.

St. John's Hospital of Springfield aimed the new garb at Muslim women but it is offered as an alternative to any female patient who wants it.

While there are less than 1,000 Muslims in the area, St. John's undertook the project as a courtesy, although the facility had to make its own and pay for it, the Springfield State Journal-Register said.

The new garb, more in step with the Muslim religion's teaching about modesty, is a wrap-around, floor-length skirt. Head covering also is offered.
