DES MOINES, Iowa, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Police said an unknown prankster has outfitted a bare-breasted statue near the Iowa State Capitol building in Des Moines with a giant bra.

Police said whoever placed the clothing, discovered Wednesday morning and removed by government workers, did not damage the statue, the Des Moines Register reported Thursday.

"It's not really a bra; it's just two shirts designed to look like that," Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Ted Wright told the newspaper.

He said the garment was "probably a practical joke."

"We'll probably never know."

The statue, which is part of the Iowa Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, "represents our young and vigorous state as a beautiful, youthful mother offering nourishment to her children," the monument hand book says.
